Credit Manager
SouthStar Energy Services (SSE) is a Georgia-based joint venture between the two largest natural gas distribution companies in the Southeast – AGL Resources and Piedmont Natural Gas. SouthStar markets natural gas and related services to retail customers on an unregulated basis. SouthStar does business in Georgia as Georgia Natural Gas, in Florida as Florida Natural Gas, in Ohio as Ohio Natural Gas, in the Carolinas as Piedmont Energy Company and in other parts of the Southeast as SouthStar Energy Services.
We have an excellent opportunity for a Credit Manager. This position is responsible for determining and monitoring counterparty creditworthiness through financial statement analysis, industry analysis, and legal entity structures. This position will also be responsible for monitoring collection activity, bankruptcy processing, aging of receivables, and residential customer credit scoring. This position involves negotiating credit terms for entity structures. Some of the primary responsibilities include the following:
- Determining and monitoring counterparty exposure against credit limits.
- Validation of counterparty credit exposures against contract terms and manage collateral calls.
- Monitoring credit exposure against limits daily.
- Assisting with developing approved trading parameters for portfolio.
- Maintaining and developing reports for daily credit exposure monitoring in company Energy Trading and Risk Management system.
- Preparing and managing collateral including Parent Guarantees and Letter of Credit.
- Managing credit & collections for trading counterparties.
- Work with third party vendors to implement credit and collection procedures. Evaluates current credit and collection programs and recommends necessary improvements.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s of Science degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance or similar field.
- Six years of applicable working experience and three years experience in credit related activities in the energy industry.
- Previous experience in valuation and/or reporting of derivative transactions including Mark to Market calculations.
- A thorough understanding of credit bureaus, fair credit reporting and working with 3rd party resources.
- Previous managerial experience. Must be able to delegate responsibilities and ensure the timely and accurate completion of delegated responsibilities.
- Must be able to demonstrate the following:
- Knowledge of bankruptcy law, Fair Credit Reporting Act, Fair and Accurate Credit Transaction Act, and Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
- Combination of strong analytical and communication skills.
- Strong understanding of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work independently and productively with cross-functional internal teams.
